I've seen a lot of them and frankly they baffle me, essentially they are people who think anorexia is a good thing, it is certainly not promoting eating disorders as eating disorders are not something you just get, they do however glorify eating disorders and promote low self-esteem, usually amongst girls without the ability to see how foolish they are being in their approach to serious life threatening illness.
What truly baffles me is the fact most of their 'thinspiration' – i.e. images of thin people they aspire to look like, normally skeleton thin and obviously unhealthy – are actually fake photos. It reaches levels of idiocy that are beyond comprehension to normal people, when people with low self-esteem and low intelligence get together like this it is a real worry, unfortunately there is nothing that can be done to really fix these peoples problems – I'd even go so far as to say it is more of an issue than actual eating disorders simply because it is a social problem brought about by social issues.

Yes I have heard of these sites. I think you have the right idea. they are dangerous sites promoting eating disorders. They often give advice telling sufferers how to remain ill. Some people, often male, pose as young girls on the message boards on these sites because they get a thrill out of talking to anorexic or bulimic girls and giving them advice on how to eat less and remain anorexic.
If your colleague is anorexic, she needs help. Try to get her to see the doctor and stop viewing these abusive sites.

You don’t need to exercise for hours on end. Short, sharp sets of exercise will produce better results in case you work hard. Get a missing rope, skip for two a few minutes, do push ups for 1 minute, skip for two minutes, rest first minute. Then change the push up to something else like sit ups along with do the set again. Repeat it five times and it’s a rapid, effective workout that will advance results than a long run or swim.

I have heard about them, I think that they should not be allowed to be on the internet. Its really sad to know that young people go to those sites looking for tips on how to purge etc... so in my opinon they should not make a site promoting it.

I used to look at them when I was younger. And yes, they are very dangerous in my opinion. They give you loads of suggestions of how to hide your eating disorder from people, and how to fight the hunger without actually eating. They also have "thinsperation" pictures - photos of emaciated young women who are supposed to be inspiration to you that you too could one day be that thin.

yes i have heard of them. there was a documentary on the telly not so long ago, about how dangertous these sites are. there were girls on the as young as 13 who were looking to lose weight. They are written by people with anorexia, meant to help other people battleing with it, by sharing their advice, but unfortunatly they seem to be giving more tips and weight loss goals to young girls who are insecure about their bodies. its really sad, and i think they can be highly addictive.

Music makes you eat more. According to a survey by the journal Psychology and also Marketing, soft, classical tunes encourage that you take time over your supper, so you consume more food. So, switch off – silence will make you more aware of what you’re applying your mouth.

Set performance-based goals. Always set yourself incrementally larger goals each week to be certain you’re engaged and have something to shoot for. Each little achievement is also a reward that you’re going in the proper direction. From doing 10 more squats to mastering a fresh yoga pose, whatever floats ones boat.
