Rip the songs into MP3 format which compresses them so that they are easy to distribute. I would recommend EAC (Exact Audio Copy) for this.

In terms of quality ideally I would recommend using Variable BitRate (VBR) or else 192bps.

First of all rip the CD Using some CD Ripping Utility such as Itunes, Jet Audio or Windows Media Player.
It will rip the files into the default .wma format.
You may mail in this format only but you may want to convert the files into the MP3 format and then Mail them as attachments.

To burn a CD, you may drag the files to the CD Drive Icon in the Explorer and Click on Write these files to the CD if you are using Windows XP. Else you will have to use a CD Burning Software such as Nero or Deep Burner and anything like it.

you would need to "rip" the song using a program like windows media player to convert the CD file to an MP3 file. However the file would still be of a largeish size (>3MB) and if you sent the file to someone who did not own the CD themselves you would be breaching copyright laws. As for burning a CD in windows xp you simply highlight the files you want to put n the cd and right click and select send to and finally click on your Cd writer
