Can anyone tell how this folklore came about?

Yes if you pick up a money spider and twirl it around your head three times, it is supposed to bring you into some money. Im scared of them falling into my hair, which may explain why im skint!

I know that if a money spider crawls or runs across your right palm its a sign of money coming your way, don't know how the superstition came to be but I believe it cause every time a money spider has been in my right palm my money situation gets better, don't ever kill a spider, always remember the old saying; If you want to live and thrive, let a spider run alive..

I don't really know where that saying came from but my mum used to say if a money spider (v.tiny spider) crossed the palm of your hand then it was a lucky omen. I've had loads cross mine but can't say I've ever had any luck money wise - still I live in hope!

If you pick up the money spider, then draw a halo above your head with the spider in your hand clockwise three times. This was supposed to bring wealth to you if you let the spider go without hurting it.

That's what my old english teacher told me.

Many people consider 'money' spiders good luck. It's just a bit of fun. I wouldn't take it too seriously.

next time you see one, pick it up rotate clockwise three times above your head then put it preferably somewhere safe outside the house that will (according to superstition) ensure that you will come into money.
