Yes in many ways that he is not given credit for. He was the best at the business of running the country in over 40 years. He is the only one that left with a budget surplus, the economy was great with everybody working that wanted to, and the country moved forward when he was president. It sure didn't take Bush long to reverse this trend did it.

Greatest by what yardstick? I'd venture to say no, by any yardstick, though I like the guy and resent he was impeached over a mere personal liaison, while Bush is guilty of countless crimes, including crimes against humanity, and no one has the scrotum to call for his impeachment. Greatest American leader? We've had a number of truly great leaders, whose leadership made life better for us, not worse (remember, Clinton left us a huge fiscal surplus, which Bush squandered). I'm thinking of Jefferson, Lincoln, the Roosevelts, Truman, some of the Kennedys, Carter (though I know Republicans hated him, but of course they did - they're into the rich serving the rich), and of course, Martin Luther King, Jr. If they made life better for the masses, for the working class, they were great. If only the rich benefitted, then they sucked. In this light, Clinton was good, if not great. Reagan and the Bush's, however, bite the big one, big time.

You mean like better than Washington, Lincoln, Roosevelt or Reagan? Did he found the nation, abolish slavery, get us through a world war, or meaningfully singlehandedly contribute to the end of the cold war?
Rumor has it that Clinton gave the chinese the neutron bomb and the mirv in exchange for the presidency. They could NEVER have independently developed the mirv. He had an affair, and sexual interactions with an intern. It is rumored that his wife is Bi.
I find none of these to be "Greatest". What do yoou think that he did that is greatest?

No,he was just a man trying to do a good job and failing here and there, like we all do.
He deserves much respect for his efforts and the way he still fights for justice today. He uses his popularity to make people more aware of world hunger and aids where if he choose could also settle for a quick buck.
That makes him a great human being but he's not the greatest leader the US ever had.He lost too many battles, like his ambitious health care plan, and the whole Monica thing was just stupid. He had to know,he's smart enough, that his enemies would use it against him.
I love him but he doesn't qualify for greatest leader in my opinion.

Ok, I actually place him as 2nd worst in U.S. history, ahead of only Buchanan.
I believe that his administration squandered so much opportunity. His affair was disgraceful to the office.
The economy had an unsustainable tech bubble under his administration that cost tons of people their retirements when it burst in his final days in office. He did nothing to manage growth.
Clinton -did- take actions against terrorists, but he was hardly the innovator some people make him out to be. For a true innovator in the fight against terrorism, you would have to look at Thomas Jefferson or Ronald Reagan.
Jefferson, you say? What could Jefferson know about terrorists? Look back in your history books and you'll find the first war ever fought by the U.S. was the Barbary States war. Who was it fought against? Islamic pirates in the Mediterranean who were targetting our merchants and kidnapping soldiers into pressed service. The idea that Clinton had some great foresight into terrorism is just disingenuous. Nearly every American president has had to deal with this to a lesser or greater degree for -centuries-.
Clinton did nothing to reduce the deficit. He did not cut spending. He raised taxes to historic highs. Then, he enjoyed the benefit of a period of uncontrolled growth that ultimately wiped out the savings of millions of Americans. Hey, but at least it kept the tax revenues rolling in!
And what about managing our reserves? Nope. Gas prices soared and he dipped into the nation's strategic petroleum reserve to try to stave off the problem.
Ironically, I give Clinton higher marks for his foreign policy than his domestic. In fact, I give him higher marks for foreign policy than the current administration (which I would put as the all-time worst in this category). But Clinton's domestic policies were easily the worst in all of history. And for that, I rank him very low indeed.
P.S. Part of the reason Clinton looks better than he was is that Bush is very bad as well. Between the two of them, I think we've seen two of the worst presidents in American history back-to-back. Forget all the partisan hyperbole and excuse-making. There really can be no excusing either of these administrations' failings.

Let us see.......Oklahoma City bombings, three US Embassies, the USS Cole, abductions of journalists, diplomats, and citizens globally, income increases with less take home pay, higher unemployment than today, lower home ownership than today, never once won 50%+ of the popular vote, judicial nominees that favor the laws of nations other than the USA before the US Constitution, the 1st Trade Center bombing, the debacle in Israel over the land for peace deal, giving North Korea nuclear fuel and Nuclear reactors, giving China the missile/rocket technology to reach anywhere on the globe with their nukes and ICBMs, giving China the targeting systems to target anywhere there rockets can reach, signing away our sovereignty in regards to space law treaties, Somalia, Haiti, not to mention lying under oath in a court of law, oh yeah, and an increase of 600% of retired people going bankrupt.
Yep, those were eight great years.....for the enemies of America. You reap what you sow, and the price of Clinton burying his head in the sand, ignoring reality while trying to get everyone to like him, is the reason why Iran is doing what it is doing today, and is the reason why N Korea is doing what it is doing today, as well as is the reason for the rise of islamofacism.

Man, you conservatives hate you some Clinton. The only thing worse is your canonization of Reagan. Neither will be on the next Mt. Rushmore.
I just miss having a president with intelligence.

I'll put it this way:
Even if you thought he was one of the worst leaders of all time just five years ago, you'd want to say he's the best now. And Bubba's looking better each and every second.
Of course, those Invasion of the Body Snatchers pods are going to stick up for that fool in office now, and they probably still would if they were all roasting in Hell with him.
