An athlete has one of to things that regular people don't... They either have mountains of cash or fame, most of the time they have both. People will always try to get something out of them, or they just don't know how to act being in the public eye every single time they go out and try to be a normal person. They are often prisoners of their own fame. Money will make you do strange things, and when you have celebrity status you may tend to abuse that and think your above the.

The average person will never understand how it feels to be surrounded by strangers for an autograph when you're at the store just pumping some gas, or being mobbed when you take your child shopping for school clothes. It's much harder than you think to be a recognized face. It's not all it's cracked up to be. Some stars deal with it differently than others. It just all depends on the person and the circumstance.

People make wrong decisions everyday, and when a guy you never heard of does something to get arrested it's not even a big deal. But when a celebrity gets in trouble automatically he is thought to be a spoiled, obnoxious, bad guy who thinks he's better than everybody else... and it's just not fair cause they're human too.

Well, I don't subscribe to the notion that athletes are role models. They are basically guys who, through a combination of lucky genes and hard work, have developed an arcane skill at running, catching a ball, or whatever. They have not been thrust into the limelight for their character, that's for sure.

And that's the problem. We have exalted these guys to the point that they get special treatment in school, special treatment in the courts, and special treatment in life. All because they can dunk a round ball through an iron hoop or catch an inflated piece of leather.

If you disagree, let's have a little litmus test. Instead of "athlete" when you read about the examples listed above, substitute the words "cardiologist" or "attorney" or "Senator." Would you have nearly as forgiving an attitude? Heck no, because these guys play for your favorite team, and they are needed for your team to be successful in the upcoming season. So we rationalize with a "boys will be boys" attitude.

In short, athletes get away with this because we idolize them so. Which is really a shame.

There are many reasons and some that come quickly to mind is alot of money too quick and they can not handle the money . Too much media fame .. They also believe they are invincible but kellen Winslow deflated that myth . Most that get into trouble think they are thugstas and or gangstas with their retinue following them around and mooching them into the poor house . Women are also another problem as they scream rape and etc whether true or not . Bad parenting in the ghetto maye too ? Lots of reasons I would believe !!!!!!

Because these are people who went suddenly into the limelight, with wealth at a level that most people are not ready for. Many lack the emotional maturity to be responsible.

Too much money, in a city that's far away from your hometown, and probably a lot bigger, and you're i your early twenties. Plus, if you're talented, half the people in the city think you're awesome and tell you thaat anytime they get the chance

I think it's because they are led to believe they are so special, and so important that they don't think they are subject to society's rules. They are often great big spoiled children, with no sense of right and wrong. There are notable exceptions, however.
