US President, John Quincy Adams said,
"The United States goes not abroad in search of monsters to destroy. She is a well-wisher to the freedom and independence of all. She is the champion and vindicator only of her own. If the United States took up all foreign affairs, it would become entangled in all the wars of interest and intrigue, which assume the colors and usurp the standard of freedom. She might become the dictatress of the world. She would be no longer the ruler of her own soul."
In other words, one becomes evil when chooses to see and decides the evil in others.
Americans should stick to being good merchants, not world saviors.

For America I would say couch potato diplomacy. Being the world's only remaining true superpower it's really not in our best interest to watch the world (violent) pass us by while we are eating chips on the couch, so to speak. Cowboy diplomacy isn't much better though as evidenced by the quagmire in Iraq. America can do better than the "shoot first ask questions later" mentality of the corrupt Bush administration.

Cowboy diplomacy, as you put it, is an oxymoron. You see this, right? Diplomacy has to do with communication, with the intent of finding common ground in order to reach a mutually acceptable solution to an otherwise grave problem. Cowboys are people that work on farms and ranches, ride horses, tend to dairy animals, and most likely do not have the sort of education needed for conflict resolution. As for couch potato diplomacy, I have no idea what that is. Never heard of it. Diplomats are highly educated people, certainly not homebodies.

President Bush is neither a Cowboy, nor a Diplomat. he's a Connecticut-born Ivy Leaguer, who makes use of words like Decider and Nucular. international family, whilst accomplished top, is painfully sluggish. for sure President Bush's answer, of staying the direction till a bad plan magically starts off working, is likewise painfully sluggish. the version is the quantity of effective American blood shed. once you're properly suited in stating that international family can not resolve each and every thing, pissing on a beehive on no account solved something.

Couch potato, because when you do nothing, you usually find yourself in a position to need a cowboy to fix it.

The worst is getting a hummer diplomacy.
Or is it giving NK nuclear technology diplomacy.
Or is it giving China access to rocketry technology diplomacy.
Or is it turning down the Sudanese offer of Osama diplomacy.
