When Andrea Yates killed her childern she was on a drug called Haldog, a very powerful drug. Should she go to Jail for life or to a mental Hospital.

This poor woman. How about that husband of hers?? The doctor told them that she should not have anymore children as she was exhibiting signs of severe post partum depression.( If you are lucky enough to escape this then you are a lucky woman) and that was after baby 3! He impregnated her 2 more times and all of her children were under 7. think about this. too many children, for her, in too short a time. Pregnancy plays havoc on a woman's hormones to begin with and you at least need a recovery time in between. But being the good Christian that he was, he didn't believe in birth control. Some women are ok with this, but many just can't physically do this. I think he should be on trial as well, because he knew she was very depressed and didn't care. I think she needs to be in an institution. Sorry

She is guilty.
she may have been depressed...blah blah....
THERE IS NO EXCUSE for brutally murdering your children.
She was cold and calculating. She lied to her husband to get him to leave...just so she could do her deed before her mother in law arrived....called the police, then her husband.
Insane people would still be standing around being insane...not calling to tell what she had done.
She was not receiving medical attention due to the fact that their insurance had ran out. or that was the story anyway...
...how many of you mothers out there had post partum and drowned/killed your kids? I'm sure the results of that survey would be very slim. She knew what she did was wrong...she should have been given the death penalty but its too late for that.
I also think it's messed up that they are not telling the jurors that if they sentence her to the institution, she could be released at any time.....FREE TO WALK THE STREETS.

Obviously she was on the drug for a reason...alot of good that did. I think she should go to jail but have someone there to help her w/her mental state. I'm surprised she has not be murdered by the other inmates... to be honest...

The drug is actually Haldol...It is used to stabalize maniac depressives...(Mispelled purposely)
Any person who kills their kids have issues...However everyone points the finger at her...Where was her husband while she was depressed with being a baby making machine? I do not think he should be absolved of guilt.

I don't really care if she was guilty or insane. I say death penalty. It doesn't compute in my mind how she could have killed those beautiful children.

Killing ones children is an insane act, doesn't mean she insane.
I'm surprised that after killing her children and being aware of this act that she wouldn't want to die.

she is quilty she admits that what she did was wrong and she should have taken her medicine correctly as perscribed by her doctor
