it depends where you are coming from, within the United states fly to San Jose since that is the closest any where else go into San Francisco since you are more likley to get a non stop from there take the Bart to Millbrae station take the Cal Trian to San Jose and a bus can take you to Santa Cruz from San Jose take a bus to Diridon Station and take a bus to Santa Cruz or you can just drive

Puts you a lot closer than SFO
