Why is everybody in such a hurry to squirt something on some poor plant in hopes of killing some unknown something?

Garden Dok is 100% right and we should all follow his advise. What's wrong with checking for a plant problem after dark? Sure seems a lot better then spraying crud all over the place. Garden Dok is a trained Master Gardener. Anything he has to say about plants we should listen to and be glad he took the time to enlighten us.

Go to walmart and buy Sevin dust in the lawn and garden dept. It shouldn't cost you more than $10. Just sprinkle it on your plants and the bugs will either die or stay away! It works really well. Remember to re-apply after rainshowers.

What you use depends on what is eating them. Japanese beatles like canna leaves but they are not that easy to kill with sprays. If it is the beatle you can get traps and will be amazed by the sheer amount that it catches.

Soapy water in a spray bottle and spray the leaves. I have to say to anyone that thinks sevin is safe????? All you need is nitrates in your body, hot dogs, Bologna, sandwich meat and sevin on your hands and it is a carcinogen. It causes cancer so be careful out there for goodness sakes.
