I am currently polishing my professional resume in anticipation that I will soon be looking for a new job. As a financial manager and successful retailer, I am regularly quoted in newspapers and have appeared on television. I want to include a history of each quotation and TV appearance. I don't know under what heading these should appear on my resume. Can you help?

Thank you for your consideration. My resume would of course, include only line items for each appearance and publication in which I participated, using only date, name of publication or appearance, and subject on which I was quoted or appeared. The quotations of course, don't belong on the resue.

Quotes don't go on a resume! Remember, a resume is not an ad so quotes or testimonials would be totally misplaced here. Besides, it would make you look like a telemarketer rather than an applicant for employment.

You could create a section called something like Publications and Public Appearances, and then put a listing of TV programs on which you've appeared, and what newspapers have quoted you.

You could also put a listing of the various topics you've discussed so it stands out. You could say something like "Appeared as a guest on the ....show talking about retirement planning."

But regardless, quotations definitely don't go on there, period!
