i live in israel and i know and feel the situation exactly. without provacation hizbullah has kidnapped our soldiers. we didnt do anything then why??? dont we have a right to free our soldiers. terrorists freely enter israel and shoot innocent children and civilians waiiting for buses. dont we have a right to defend ourselves? we gave them lebanon territories and gaza territories for peace but still they arent satisfied and they want more and more.. young soldiers are killed everyday in war, people in north israel live in underground shelters all the time since the war begin, no work, life is at a standstill. businesses are effected. lives are lost. oh my god. may god give them some brains and let us live.

Hizbullah has done a very very stupid and bad thing. But again, Israel detains hundreds of prisoners from their side.
To me, as a lebanese, the situation is like the chicken and the egg. Who started this whole mess?
but the real question is: does it matter anymore? we're in a circle of hatred, a tit for tat ravaged region.
Hizbullas should disarm, that is all therer is to say for them, nothing more, nothing less.
NOw, comes Israel. Did it do the right thing? did it defend itself?
ABNSOLUTELY not. Just because there is an iranian backed militia located on the lebanese soil doesn't mean that the whole country should be wipped out of the map so that their problems be solved. What is this, a horror movie? We're in the 21st century people, ANY human who agrees with what Israel has done is a brainwahsed fool. We ought to be living in a open minded and peacful society, not killing innocent women and children because of a militia group that civilians have nothing to do with it.
To destroy a whole country because of a bad root in it is INNACCEPTABLE, INHUMANE, BARBARIC. and nevertheless, a TERRORIST act. you heard me well, ISrael's action defines it as terrorist.

What approximately Lebanese banks doing the comparable for Israelis? that's extremely one sided do no longer you think of? The Lebanese government is in charge in this is inactivity against Hezbollah and failure to keep away from Hezbollah from firing missiles into Israel, Israel is merely protecting. This all began from the Lebanese component of the boarder, so as that they could be financially in charge, no longer Israel.

am neither lebanese nor israeli, but going through ur previous question and this one about the recent conflict in the middle east i feel that i have to share with u my opinion, i'll post some links for you afterwards.
I live in jordan, we share borders with a country called israel (which was called Palestine less than 60 years ago), we're not that far from lebanon either, we're just in the heart of the middle east (not to mention our borders with Iraq, Saudi Arabia n Syria!). It still amazes me personally how we in Jordan have been out of the hate game everyone around us seem to be part of.
getting back to the most recent conflict, it really gets on my nerves some of the replies u got, with (Israel has the right to defend itself), and (Israelis have the right to fight back), i DO NOT disagree with that, but doesn't everyone else has the same claimed right? don't the surrounding countries have the same right too? not to mention the right to live (just live, n then discuss living in honor!)
Press ... what a great tool of hiding facts, Israel has been bombing and attacking Gaza for the last God knows how many months ... did the western press highlight this? or wasn't that worth mentioning in comparison with Israel's new "crisis"?
being in the middle of this all, i find myself more familiar with the "history" behind all this, it's still engraved in my grandmother's memory as if it happened yesterday, how their homes were taken away from them, how they were forced to seek shelter n peace in other countries, how dead bodies were everywhere on their way to the borders, it still tears my grandmother's heart apart whenevr she remembers the town she grew up in as a child.... to my amazement, she still remembers her jew friend who used to live right nextdoor, she sometimes wonders what happened to her jew friend after all these years, but deep down i know that her friend is still living (in honor n grace) in her country where no one has forced her out of her home, and has lived her life happily ever after.
Israel has the "right" to respond .... does being a free, liberated, forceful occupier country grant the "right" to take away other countries' "rights", or grant the "right" to misuse this power?
War is not fair, was is NEVER fair, but how fair is it to destroy a country, kill its civilians for the sake of 2 prisonors?
let's say u're a big shot in ur country, and ur son was attacked by another kid who lives in another state, do u go bomb that state in revenge? do u use ur powers and claim u have the "right" to respond?

Now Lebanon lies helplessly and mercilessly marauded by Israeli warplanes, with hundreds of people dead by careless Israeli attacks. Why? Because Hizbollah captured two Israeli soldiers!! Never mind the 10,000 Palestinians, some captured not on battle grounds but in the still of the night or by stealth from their homes, whose families await their release while the world stands deaf to the cries of mothers and fathers who patiently await the release of their loved ones. Never mind, also, even though one really should, the Israeli prisons brimming with Lebanese prisoners, some never in combat against the occupier!
