I spent some time in Hobart, Tasmania and traveling the east coast of Australia. The people are fantastic. They like Americans very much. Once they know you are American they are very interested and helpfull. The older Australians still remember what General McArthur did for them when he said "I'll be back" and stopped the Japanese. I don't believe racism would be a factor, especially for an educated American.
