Did you buy a ticket? Or enter a sweepstakes somewhere? If not, it's a scam - especially if it comes from someone in Nigeria...

No. It's fake.

First of all, you probably didn't buy a ticket, did you? Therefore, there is no lottery in the world that I have ever heard of that gives away money for free to people who never even purchased a ticket.

Secondly, when you do purchase a lottery ticket, you don't give them your email address. All you do is exchange money for the ticket.

So, it's junk (scrap) mail. Delete those, send them to the junk email folder, and don't even open them.

Hmmmm....did you purchase a ticket? If not, and you did not go to a store to confirm your winning - then it is a scam.

Last time I looked the Lottery Commission did not ask for your name and address when you purchase a ticket.

The lottery does not notify you through email that you won. Most likely it is spam to get you to look at their email. I would just delete it in case it is a virus.

All emails like this are spam. You should always forward these emails to spam@uce.gov
Unfortunately the world is full of people trying to scam you and they will do whatever it takes. Email should really be ignored if you don't know who is sending it.
