Have to admit I'm 35 and wear mine up all the time - I wear RL or YSL mostly and have about 15 that I rotate all through the summer.
I guess I have always done it since I started wearing Polo shirts about 15 years ago. I'm sticking with up for a few more years. I do the same with rugby shirts too.

Leave the very last button buttoned down but leave the other two open. A polo shirt implies a certain amount of casual & buttoning it all the way up implied a certain amount of control that is in total contrast to the garment. If you have a little chest hair, it will peek out of the unbuttoned part, or maybe wear a very thick discreet gold chain (classy, not flashy/trashy bling). Polo shirts look great with khakis or dark denims, pressed with a crease, & Dockers or Topsiders. Good luck - !

Down. I am 35 and it was only cool to wear the collar up in 1983, 1984 and 1985. Update your look dude.

DOWN.
Are you aiming for the preppy look or the Count Dracula effect? Honestly, at 34 years old, the "preppy" look is just begging for jokes, teasing and ragging.
Did you ever think how ridiculous 85 year old women look with jet black hair? The hair color is "young" while their skin tells a different story...
Trying to look "young" at 34 while dressing like a college prep type looks just as silly, too.

down! I am in high school and some people wear it up. Very few can actually pull it off. Most of those people are gay. The other people that can pull it off are the "pretty boys". But i deffinitly wouldn't suggest it for a 34 year old.

Wearing it up is to '80's. Wearing it down is the current fashion. If you don't you will be out of fashion for the next 5-10 years when they start wearing it up again, as fashion is not only fickle, it is cyclical.
