There is not a change. They imply the equal factor. Africans who're raised in America however understand their nation of foundation, state it. So anybody from Kenya might name themselves a Kenyan-American or only a Kenyan. Someone from Jamaica is Jamaican. Most African-Americans simply name themselves "black" and have not been African for many years. By a few historic money owed we had been constantly an additional persons from different Africans. A lot of persons omit that.

Because most Africans are black. There are four races indigenous to Africa, but they almost always get pushed to the side or are completely non existent because the world is not fair. I don't know why an Egyptian that moves here cannot be called an African American. But that's why I wish they just call them black, that way its pretty much accurate.

An African American (also Afro-American, Black American, or simply black) is a member of an ethnic group in the United States whose ancestors, usually in predominant part, were indigenous to Africa. Many African Americans have a degree of European, Native American, Asian and/or Latin American ancestry as well. The term refers specifically to black African ancestry; not, for example, to white or Arab African ancestry, such as Arab Moroccan or white South African ancestry. Definitively, African American means an American of black African descent. The majority of African Americans are the descendants of enslaved Africans transported from West and Central Africa to North America from 1609 through 1807 during the trans-Atlantic slave trade. Others have arrived through more recent immigration from the Caribbean, South America and Africa. Black immigrants from African and non-African countries are oftentimes referred to by their nations of origin and not culturally defined as African American socially; however in general, the cultural assumption in the United States is that if a person is black, native English-speaking and living in the United States, he or she is African American.

There's no such thing as reverse discrimination- only discrimination. adding an extra word doesn't change it any.

i dont get what you saying but to the person who said that black people are not africans your kinda dumb because then what are you cuz your sure not an american unless you became indian all of a suddenn, but to that ignorant statement i believe that its the slave masters (back then in the old old slavery days) fault that some black people are the way they are ....well its the black peoples fault too cuz they have forgotten their culture and their history all black people are african cuz they sure aren't white or AMERICAN and all white people are european no one is an american except for the native americans and that is what everyone seems to forget. all white people came from european(their ancestors so its in their blood) and all black people are african cuz they all came from africa (their ancestors) so everybody needs to shut up about that white, american, and african-american crap cuz its all wrong and lies and entrapment. your either REALLY native american, european/"white" ,or african/"black" and all the other cultures.

and who ever wants to call me racist and ignorant go ahead because i know what im talking about and its a shame that we live in this world today. and im an african by the way :)

There are no "African" Americans. There are only American Americans! "African-American" is just this weeks 'acceptable' epithet for black people in America. (I can't believe they put up with this nonsense myself). It used to be "black", before that it was "*****", & it will doubtless change again.

I fell victim to using this ridiculous phrase myself until I heard a newscaster on CNN describe a prominent black British politician as "African-American". The man has no connection whatsoever to either America or Africa, unless you go back thousands of years to when all humans were in Africa.

Because of their African origin. The best remedy against discrimination is to struggle hard and come up in life in the hard way. There is dignity in suffering , as shown by Jesus.
