Most of the "religious right" are not well educated. I admit that their strategists and leaders may be, but that's not what I'm asking. It's my question and if it offends you, you can choose not to answer it or blast back at me.

Since you are calling them and they really are " a bunch of crazy illiterate fanatics", it needs no further explanation. How can you blame a person who is a) crazy b)illiterate and c) a fanatic. These are the reasons these persons cannot change. Illiteracy makes them lowest in I.Q., fanatic makes them do whatever their leaders or priests tell them to do and craziness does not bother them from killing innocent people! I think whichever religion a person is following and if he is educated or even has average I.Q, he could analyze and study his religion in detail and draw logical conclusions and not just blindly follow what is written in his religion's holy books. Who knows what type of persons had written it and in what context?. Most of the time it was written long after the holy people died and thus since they were no longer living one could not get clarifications on the negative points written. And most of the time it is hear-say. Holy people had not dictated each word personally to the writer. The persons who have written could be wrong! The best way to deal with all humankind is with love and compassion which is mentioned in all religions of the world and is a uniting force whereas hatred, anger and revenge is all negative thinking and will definitely have negative results on our soul, body and mind.

Why do you insult these people? Let me guess, they insulted you. Does it make you see how easy it is to go to war. Why can't some people here just ask a question without the insults and perhaps everyone might be able to learn and understand each other? Yes, I have read questions and answered back with rage. I'm as guilty as anyone else. I just think this would be a great place to learn about different opinions. All the hate does is make us all seem like idiots. It seems America is in trouble right now and a "United " country would be the best way to solve the many problems we have. No, I don't want to be a mindless robot and follow any leader like a puppet.

No, "crazy illiterate religious fanatics" should not be allowed to dictate to the rest of us. Nor should crazy literate religious fanatics, or any other permutation of the phrase, be allowed to dictate.

Who is crazy? The Religious Right? Leftists? Greens? Feminists? Atheists?

Who is a fanatic? Christians? Muslims? Jews? Buddhists?

Who should dictate? Republicans? Democrats? Libertarians(I know Lib's don't dictate)?

True, those who have no knowledge of what they speak are quite naive, but let us not forget the crazy illiterate non-religious fanatics also being allowed to dictate their will to the rest of us...I see it as the same thing, but different sorts.

And here I thought you meant the crazy 'and' illiterate religious fanatics who are found in abundance in places such as Iran, Syria and Gaza.

As someone who YOU might call a c-i-r-f let me give you a clue. The 'and' in the middle of "crazy and Illiterate" above might be more grammatically appropriate. Are there any English teachers who agree me?

I'm sorry, but who are you talking about? Because last time I checked the zealots of the religious right are anything but illiterate, which makes them that much more frightening.

Also, if you want to have an intelligent discourse, you should drop the ad hominems, because all they do is piss people off, which effectively kills any chance for genuine discussion.

Should 7% of the population be allowed to change the makeup of the american way of life? I don't think so, and neither does 93% of the rest of the country.
