I ask because when downloading files torrents it goes very slow?

I like all the answers so far. I wonder if Im trippin but it took like 24 hours to get a movie, is that a long time to wait?

first download http://www.utorrent.com then goto http://www.portforward.com/ read up on port forwarding

That is pretty fast. You could watch full-screen standard TV at that speed, but not HDTV.
Even with a fast connection, you may be limited by the server speed when you are downloading files. If the server has a slow connection, or is busy with a lot of other downloads, then your connection speed doesn't matter. You could try downloading at a time of day when fewer users are downloading.

That's fast enough! Good speed to watch video. live! Is that a sustained speed or just a burst? Go into your modem and turn on the UPNP (Universal Plug aNd Play). Your torrent program should be able to use that. Good luck!

Your connection is fast.
When there are lot of traffic with the servers, the speed decreases.

No, not really. Certainly, that's below average for non-rural areas of the UK. Mine is double that and still not particularly fast.
