Because this is a sunblocking agent. It blocks out UVB and UVA rays, by reflecting them away. It's also a non-chemical ingredient, so it is totally safe. Zinc oxide is another example of a physical sunblocking agent. HTH.

i dont no but its the main ingrediant in foundation probably something got to do with making it creamy or stay on

Because it has so much crap in it that it causes skin cancer.
