I've got 376 MB of RAM, which is extremely close to the recommended RAM for GTA - San Andreas but still the game works at the slowest game speed I've ever seen!! Is ther any kind of file or something that can be downloaded from th Web, that can increase the speed of the game to normal or even make it much faster than normal speed? Other speed-enhancing suggestions are also welcome.

A 512MB memory stick will cost you about $35 to $40, spend the money for the memory. There is no software solution for this. Memory is cheap, get the memory.

Next time while asking such questions please mention your PC configuration , like Processor Make+Speed, Motherboard , Ram Type [DDR/DDR2/SD , Memory Frequency etc.] , HDD make+type,

376 MB of DDR ram coupled with and AMD 3200+ 64 bit can give real good speed.
Now to the core of the problem. You can increase the speed the Game by:
1. Defrag the partition where you have installed the game.
2. Decrease the ingame video settings like: a) Distance Visible, b)Fog c)Anti Aliasing , c) Resolution etc.
Decrease them 1 at a time and start the game. You may find a nice balance without sacrificing all visual charm.
3. Allot about 64 MB Ram to AGP Aperture [i.e assuming u don't hv a grfx card]
Do this from bios>Advanced chipset features.
4.Before starting the game Halt ur Antivirus's realtime scanning, Disconnect net, stop firewall, and all other memory consuming unnecessary processes
5. Disable all windoes viusal treats. From MyComputer->rightclick->properties->Advanced->performance->deselect all.

Thas almost all. If you should do all this I'm sure you will find about 15% of increment in Game performance.

Atfirst go to http://systemrequirementslab.com & check whether your system meets all requirements for the game.

Do the following things:

1. Run Disk clean-up. Then delete unused files. (start>program>accessories>sys... tools> disk clean-up)
2. Check for disk errors. (right click on a disk-drive>properties>tools >error checking)
3. Run disk defragmenter.
4. Delete cookies. (you can do it from your browser options: tools>internet options)
5. Delete cache. (you can do it from your browser options)
6. Delete all history files. (you can do it from your browser options, or, CTRL + H, then delete)
7. Empty recycle bin.
8. Delete unused icons & short-cuts from anywhere including desktop.
9. Uninstall any software or game that you use only once or twice in a week.
10. Delete temporary internet files. (you can do it from your browser options: tools>internet options)
11. Delete all recent files. (click on start, click run, then type "recent", delete all the files which show up)
12. Run a full virus scan. If any threat found, eliminate that completely.
13. Run a software which can remove any spyware or adware.

If you did these all at the same time, restart your computer. All these to be done once in a week if possible, depending on the frequency of use of your PC.

* Updating: (Needed only when updates are available)
14. Update your Windows by installing latest updates.
15. Update your audio & video drivers.
16. Update softwares, games that you use. Install latest patches fro the game.

And follow the in-game instructions given by 3Dillusion above. I strongly hope you will be playing the game with much more ease.
Still I will recommend that you upgrade your RAM upto 1 Gig or more, if you want to play great games which came out after 2004.

Disable all unnecessary windows services.

Click "Run" off your start menu and type in services.msc

Then go here for a list of services to see what you'd like to stop:

Also turn off any antivirus while you play.
