How do you kill a horse?

I need to kill a wild horse that keeps attacking me. How do I kill it?

In the USA where everyone is armed and dangerous, I'd think a gun would be the simplest way. If you can walk up to, use a handgun to the brain. That is quickest. Think about where the bullet fragments and animal matter will be projected (don't wear your best shirt). Make really sure the live horse is exactly where you want the dead horse to be. They're hell to move once dead.

If you can't approach, you want a heat-lung shot with deer rifle (.270, 30/06, 30/30) or bigger. A .338 would be ideal. Or a single slug in a 12 gauge shotgun. Aim about one foot behind and one foot below the shoulder joint. Practice first. If you can't reliably hit a paper plate, don't take the shot.

If not in the USA? Poison in some sweeted oats? Axe to the head?

But, if at all reasonable, have the sheriff, wildlife authorities, etc deal with it. People here in Alaska have been hurt when bystanders try to dispatch/mercy kill a highway-injuried moose. The authorities have been trained to think about what behind the target - the backstop. And they have the weapons, liability insurance and heavy equipment to move the carcass that you don't.

If it's a DOMESTIC HORSE acting aggressively, I would contact a veterinarian or an animal behaviorist. There might be a CAUSE for the aggression.

If it's a horse in the WILD, I would call the authorities (Wildlife Federation, Fish & Game, Police) and explain the situation.

If you take matters into your own hands and break a law, you would have MORE TROUBLE than horses!

If you find out from the vet that there is something wrong with the horse (and it belongs to you), you can sell it to someone else, a glue factory, or the like (whichever pays more). They will take care of horse appropriately.

P.S. But I would have the horse checked out first.

Please dont!! Call up the animal police or the rspca and they'll take it away and probably kill it humanley. Otherwise you can be charged with animal cruelty, get a massive fine and even go to prison!
