Suffering from cancer and being aware of it and waiting for the imminent death are awful experience. Hence to expect them to be a 'good' father is too cruel way of behaving. Accept them as they are so long as they are in this world. They deserve our sympathy and not our assessment.

Cancerian as in the star sign? If you actually believe that star signs have any bearing on your life or what kind of a man you are, then i don't think you have the proper grip on reality required to be a father.

I don't think that has anything to do with it or to follow by and it all depends on the person. How much they love kids etc. If he's a good husband/boyfriend then have no doubt that he'll be a wonderful if not a great father.
