Decapitation

2006-07-25 20:39:46 · answer #1 · answered by Out $1000 3 · 1 2

It can only be an American that would ask such a silly question.

Yes, I too am an American, but even I know better than to attack any nations history.

The monarchy of any country are living, breathing history that reminds them of their struggles, history and glory.

That is like saying the United States should get rid of the position of the President.

Some people may feel that to be the case, but I'm sure many Americans would feel offended if such a question were raised.

I know I would.

Unless you are a citizen of a country that has a monarchy then I really think it is most inappropriate for you or anyone to make judgements about how any country chooses to conduct business; unless innocent people are dying and they are a threat to other nations.

Cheers to Her Majesty.

Who are THEY? and don't you mean get rid of, not off?
This question should only be answered by the British, foreigners keep your noses out!
The British will never get rid of the Monarchy, we have no death wish desire to have a tuppence halfpenny half wit of a president, we can easily leave that for other countries. If the Monarchy is such a burden, so unpopular, why is that at every turn of event, the public mob the street to catch a glimpse at the event and why is every event recorded and published world-wide, oh yes, because it is so unpopular.

We will never get rid of the Monarchy, because it is cheaper to have them, plus the revenue they bring into the country with tourists etc outstrips public spending on them, a president or like wise would cost us a fortune-take a look at the cost of keeping the President of USA alongside that of the Queen

Why are you fussing about it? If this question read, "When will we get rid of the monarchy" it might be worth entertaining. But the bottom line is, it's not your country, it's not your monarch, and it's none of your business. So go find something else to meddle in.

Those of us who live in democratic countries have royal families to thank for the roots of our political systems. Before law, it was only natural that the strongest clans would run territories. Kings would ride into battle at the front of the army - brave men were they! Their great great great grandchidren are now the owners of large amounts of land and other assets, and one doesn't go around taking assets off people - that's called robberry. The UK monarchy may be expensive to maintain, but at least our head of state doesn't have to tell lie after lie after lie to stay in office.

Just take a look a Tony Blair and Cherie swanning around in jets paid for by the tax payer..... how much worse would it be to have a president? and would tourists come to see a president... would you go to see President Bush.... current batch are not great, but lets see if William can turn the whole thing around.... give Harry a break, he lost his Mum, has a terrible Dad, and just look at the step mother! and lives with every action under the spotlight, how many "normal" kids his age would do any better?

NEVER, face it the monarchy is a tourist attraction, a moneymaker, as long as this is the case the monarchy will remain.
