Its an effect. Take a literal mirror. looking in that mirror you hope to find some satisfaction for how you look right? Its an effevt of things you have already done to achieve this image.
As far as the image within. You get out whatever you put in. So whenever you look inside at the real you, the only reason you are the way you are is because of the things you have been through, ie how you were raised.
So your raising is the cause and what you see and how you feel in the effects of your life.

Mirror is just a reflector. When mirror speaks it is niether cause nor effect. It is just a reflection of the person who comes before the mirror . You have put a rather difficult question which I cannot avoid apprreciating it. You can discount my answer by a little scientifical approach. For example had there been no mirro, there would have been no effect. In this equation mirror can become cause and reflection can become effect.

it is an effect because only you actually speaks because the mirror can only reflect ambient light back at you whichyou perceive as an image of yourself.

our face reflects the mirror within ourselves, i.e heart. face speaks lot many things, it is the reflection of all our emotions, naturally, when one speaks good things, wonderful happenings will take place, and viceversa bad things, all ill effects.
