I'm a little confused about this: How many women went to Africa and observed chimps?

I know Jane Goodall was one, but wasn't there another woman researcher who was actually shot dead in Africa?
Any other women researchers with similar stories?

yeah Dian Fossey, I thought that she was beheaded though ("Gorillas in the Mist")

I think the woman who was shot was observing gorillas
