I wear it all the time. But of course I also wear girls clothes. I think it is fun wearing makeup to the store, it really gives people something to stare at or talk about. I like the attention too. A couple of ladies asked for makeup tips once. I love it! giggle, giggle.

Despite a lot of reflex reactions, there are a lot of "guys" - read "men and boys" wearing makeup these days - it used to be just actors, celebrities, pop stars and the like - well, it's not that way anymore. Even the "macho types" get made up for media appearances and the like.

But your question seems to suggest that you like it more for fashion's sake. Good for you. It's a style statement - which can run from pretty boy to goth - and it's your right to make the statement you want to make.

I'm going to guess here that you're not interested in very femme looks (female impersonation) or theatrical looks (character makeup, kabuki theater, vampire goth, or "drag" - which is more a parody of female looks than a credible presentation of gender - at least from the way I was taught to categorize makeup). If that's true, then what do you want from makeup? Flawless skin, kissable lips, a little visual interest for an open minded and adventurous girlfriend? That's so cool. MAC [famous cosmetic company] had an entire offering this summer on "Boy Beauty" that was wonderful.

Be reminded that if that's your interest, the "rules of the road" are a little different for guys - more natural is generally better and truly bright colors are best left off your face. A little color goes a long way on girls and can go too far the male face. Also, male makeup (done for fashion rather than television or public appearances) has different needs

Evening out the skin tone - reducing or eliminating the "shadow" of a beard - this is the job of a good foundation - but don't paint an inch thick, OK? If you need/want coverage, get the best you can. Many guys (particularly as you get older) should avoid full foundation, but can beneft from some foundation and a llittle concealer to even out ruddiness in the cheek or dark circles under the eye - you look more rested and ready - and that can be an advantage - even at the most conservative job.

Men, (unfairly from the point of many girls) typically have longer and thicker lashes, so go light on the mascara. But shaping your brows and using a little brow set to tame them can have a wonderful effect, making you less like the "cave dwelling" type. Think yourself, but better, not 1930's film goddess.

Because men's eyebrow bones tend to make their eyes deeper set than the average woman, the focus of most male fashion makeup tends to be the eye - and so many boys wear eyeliner and a little eyeshadow going clubbing (even to pick up girls there, though you can love and date and whatever with whoever) that it seems pointless to go into detail.

This is a personal point - bronzer is great, but blush (rouge) is tricky for most male faces - the more neutral tone of bronzers is less obvious. Don't try to resculpt your bone structure with makeup - that's the job of plastic surgery - it can enhance and help, but it's not good for radical change if you want fashion and not theater - now there are medical conditions for which specialty makeup is a great help - but those cases are the exception, rather than the rule.

Lastly, lips Male looks are often substantially darker than the skin around them, so a soft, sheer lip protector or very light tint may be all that's required.

The truth is that makeup can be fun, sensual, and great for attracting the right partner - some of the biggest makeup addicts out there are very very straight rocker boys who are busy seducing every girl in sight. It's a question of taste, and everybody doesn't have to agree - some folks will always go "yuck!" but others will react very postively and there are more of the latter every year.

Editorial opinion: I'm in the business and have no problem helping guys pick what's right for them. And gender-insecure people might be surprised at just how much fun you can have - you can be everything from truck driver by day to glam rocker by night - its all part of being a complete human. Girls have had this range all along - it's about time guys had some options.

The important point is to do what's fun for you and any potential partner - but please consider learning to do it right - girls grow up with makeup as part of their grooming ritual - for some money and 20 to 40 hours of investment, you can generally do a beginning makeup course at many beauty schools - and that has two advantages - you learn good habits and techniques for yourself - and you can have fun (if you're so inclined) with a job where you can meet all the beautiful girls you want [and if they're not fabulous when they get in your chair, they will be when you're done - and when you make a woman feel good about her looks - you're a long way to making her feel good about herself - and that's sexy]

there's nothing wrong with guys wearing make-up BUT, bear in mind to NEVER OVER DO IT! you don't wanna be mistaken for a lady. moderation is a key word. start with a good skin cleaning regime, that way, you just need to use powder and that sorta thing. and pleasepleasePLEASE don't use blusher!
