Broadband is just a generic term to describe the faster connections above dial-up like dsl, cable, t1/t3, OC, etc.

SBC dsl is fast generally, but you might want to shop arround. First check what is available, like see if your local phone company offers dsl. Or check your local cable company for cable modem service. You might have a choice so you might want to look at the various pricing deals and stuff. Like sometimes there will be plans that offer free installaion/modem and faster speeds for less.

Generally if you are in the US, you should be able to ger good dsl speed like 150dl/15ul for arround $30 and cable is a bit faster for about $5 less usually. However cable has one problem: if everyone in your area has it, your bandwidth may be crappy.

I have this knowledge..coz i work for a telecommunications company as a Internet Help desk officer.- ETISALAT - UAE.

Thanx.

Broadband uses cable. DSL uses telephone.

Broadband is typically faster and better than DSL. Broadand companies tyipically offer a dynamic IP that may change time to time and you share the bandwidth with other customers.

DSL offers a static IP and you're given a dedicated amount of bandwidth. Usually less than broadband.

DSL is not as fast as Cable, & is over a phone sized wire (not your phone line)
