He is the owner of the Oakland Raiders of the NFL. He was once the commissioner of the AFL before the two leagues merged in the late 1960's. Many people regard him as a maverick for doing what he wants, most notably, moving his team to Los Angeles and then back to Oakland despite the NFL's objections.

Al owns the Raiders, the team that used to have the mystique such that they'd already beaten you before you stepped onto the field. The Raiders used to take outcasts and misfits and turn them into winners, via the "Commitment to Excellence."

It's slipped noticeably, especially with the move to LA and the subsequent move back to Oakland, but no reason it can't be revived.
