Ok, there has been a guy on here called mohammed P (aka-PC Patel) claiming to be from the Metropolitian Police informing about Paypal fraud! Well I'm not sure if he's the real deal but.....
read on if you are interesting in NOT being coned!
There is an internet fraud group that are sending out emails, using a link to the Paypal website for you to update your details. This link is fake and will take you to a false site(identical to Paypals)and ask for user id and other information.
Please do not use these links, contact Paypal though Ebay or through other means.
If you have used this link then please take nessecery measures to ensure that your money IS where you left it!
This is a real scam, my Mum got the email last week!
Sorry to be such a bore!

Hope everyones ok?????

Thank You I think its great there is someone willing to warn people about a possible scam.

Just a note,,,,,,one of the best things to do when you see a SCAM or any other violation is to report them..

Everyone reading this post should go to his post and report him. Just select "Report Abuse" and when it opens select SCAM. The more reports someone receives, the sooner he is removed.

Thanks for the heads up. Its called "Phishing" and its a Social Engineering tactic. Its pretty nasty; put up a Replica of the site you want to emulate and have the Username/Password that the user types in sent to your email address. I've used it to take control of over 30 peoples MySpace accounts. After I'd gained access to the persons account, I'd spread the link secretly to that users buddys and have them foolishly "log-in" to my MySpace page under the guise of "Check out this new pic".

Whats worse is people 7 times out of 10 have all their passwords set the same be it: Email, AIM, MySpace or Porn Site. People, diversify your passwords less you fall victim to a VERY easy scam.

P.S. This is a very irresponsiple thing to do and I don't care who the person is, this doesn't make you some kind of "Hacker" just shows youre knowledgeable about the web and preying on peoples stupidity. Be very careful with your info everyone!

P.P.S Not only are you kind but youre simply gorgeous~

Thanks for the warning. Fortunately, I'd only respond to a fraud alert if it came from Paypal. Because anybody can say that they are from some firm stating that they are legit, etc. So I don't even forward those e-mails. But it's always good to know that someone is checking up on these things. Nice job.

Yes you are right. Also, there are some people in Canada sending out bogus checks in the mail. They're trying to get your account number so tey can get all the money out. Never give that information to anyone. If you feel like someone conned you out of the information, change your bank account number. They can do it pretty easy.

nice one - personally if I ever receive an email from ebay, paypal, my bank etc I close it, go straight to the site and see if they have the same information requests etc. They never do and will never ask for your details.

If in doubt - its a scam

thanks for the info

Fair play for telling everyone. I received a similar one a few months ago, I knew it was fake because they didn't use my real name. Paypal always use your proper name in any correspondance. I traced the e-mail back to California and sent him a message of my own with a few choice words.
