Ohms law specifies a directly proportional relationship between electrical energy per charge (V) required to maintain a flow of charge (I) through a conductor and the resistance (R) of such conductor towards the charge flow. The electrical energy per charge or the voltage drop is equal to the product of flow of charge and conductor’s resistance.

Or - V=IR
V- voltage in Volts or Joules per Coulomb
I – current in Amperes or Coulombs per Second
R- resistance in Ohms

Further the resistance of the conductor is directly proportional to its cross sectional area (A) and inversely proportional to its length (l).

R=pA/l where p – is specific resistively of material in Ohms /Meter
