No I don't believe this. From experience I have found that things usually happen because I do something to make them happen, whilst other things happen because other people make them happen.
There is no such thing as 'destiny' or 'fate'. Clearly, the future has not happened yet. That's why you call it the future.
Believing in fate is one way of feeling that you don't have to take responsibility for your actions.

This is a tough one and I think about it a lot. I believe there are lessons to be learned from everything that does happen thereby creating a reason usually only visible through hindsight. Besides, how does one ever prove the theory? Its impossible because say you make a choice to go hiking, fall down a hill and then break your leg there is no way to know that if you had stayed home you wouldn't haven't tripped on the stairs and broken it anyway or not, because you can't do both. Of course, once its broken you might be rescued by a dreamy paramedic and meet your future husband (or wife) and if you don't break it you don't meet them which changes everything about your entire future. See what I mean, even sometimes what appears to be a bad thing turns out to be a good thing but it still all started with a choice that you made.
However, having no control is not an issue. You choose what you do or don't do in life and those choices lay the ground work for the things that happen. Like you will never be a lottery winner, if you don't play the lottery and you'll never become a drug addict if you don't do drugs. Choices. Make a left turn or a right and the whole day is different, but you chose the left or right. Perhaps its just human nature to need to believe there is a reason for everything, thats how we deal with the bad that happens to us.

Yes, I believe everything happens for a reason. We just don't always get to know what that reason is. We do make decisions in our lives but that isn't the same as destiny. We all have tests in life everyday. They can be good or bad. I believe bad things sometimes happen to good people in order to test us to stay that way and to be true to who we are. Hardships in life usually make people stronger, but for those who collapse under pressure they sometimes learn eventually how to cope and also become stronger to some extent. Haven't we all wondered at some point, why does this great person have to be in so much misery and pain from an illness when there are enough bad or sick child molesters running free who should suffer?or how does a horrible person get to live while a wonderful young mother or father has to pass away and leave their 3 children without a parent? Life isn't fair for some wild and crazy reasons that we could only begin to understand...
An example is all of the terrible s**t I've been through in my past that seems to have somehow "earned" me the pass for all the joys and blessings in my life today. Remember, nothing in life is really free!
So yes we should just go with it and take the good and the bad within all of ourselves to receive the best outcome we can get in life. Somehow we have to remind ourselves that no matter what it is, it will be alright.

Ah, the question of the ages.
I do believe that everything happens for a reason. In fact, the longer I live, the stronger my conviction grows. I do not believe that I have went anywhere, met anyone, or cried a single tear for nothing: all has a purpose, though it may not be readily apparent.
When you ask if we have control over what happens to us, you are delving into the area of free-will, destiny, and sovereignty. Many a educated persons have debated this topic; me, I'm not sure. It's a subject I've just begun to re-think and evaluate.
Love to hear yuor thoughts on the matter!

Yes. I do beleive that whatever happens to us in the past molds us to what we are in the present(or future). You wouldn't be the person u are now if it wasnt for the things that happened to u before... either good or bad. Trust God and love him. I dont know ur beliefs but whatever it is, He is there to guide us... Of course we should still do whatever we want. If u decide to pursue a career or go abroad, its totally up to you, as long as u know that what u are doing is based on what u really want in life. Be happy always.

Yeah I believe that everything and every person that walks into our life has a purpose and really happens for a reason. But, I think that we do have a control over whats gonna happen and what's happening. Its like things will come to us but it 's still us who's gonna decide for everything, for our life.

I defenitely do believe that our life is planned ahead of time. We are all here for one reason - To learn and/or teach lessons. The lessons we are here to teach and learn are known before we have even entered this world.
Life is all about "Learning Lessons"
The Lessons we learn come from the "Choices" we make...All the Good and Wrong-doing in our lives has come from a Choice that ourselves or someone else has made wether it be good or bad.
We Learn from it....Sometimes lessons take a long while to learn and cause us much grief....some we learn quickly - but either way, in the end, the lesson shines through.

Of course not. We have control over the majority of the things we do. If you take that attitude, you'll end up sat on your a**e for the rest of your life, either thinking something great will fall into your lap, or petrified something bad will happen if you get up.

Yes i truly believe that Our lives are mapped out while we are still in our Mothers womb!!! I think whatever happens was meant to happen and that some things happen in order to build our character and turn us into exactly who we were destined to be!

Yes I do, and the reason isn't always apparent...infact it may not become apparent until weeks, months, or even years later. As for control over our lives, we think we have it , but ask yourself how many times 'circumstances' dictate what you do, and how often do you use the term "If only"?
