OK, fair enough - for whatever reason you're concerned. Let's see if we can address some of this. I'm going to assume you're going to a professional who has adequate training and licensing in this area. That means they have hundreds of hours (at least in the UK and US) of training in how to handle you and your skin in a way that will make your skin better for being there.

Your question suggests that one of your issues may be acne, and a good facial can help - both by cleansing the skin and removing some of the materials clogging your pores. Now it's true that sometimes it can be a little uncomfortable at first, but it should never be painful - and done in a proper and sanitary way, won't "ruin" your face - in fact you should leave with better skin and in a state of relaxation and happiness.

In fact, sometimes facials are recommended by dermatologists as a way of helping whatever therapy they're using to help clear your skin. If you have really severe problem skin, consider consulting a dermatologist (skin doctor) or other health care professional to determine if facials can help your situation - they can advise you on what options are required and how often is right for you to go.

The most important point is that any beauty procedure should leave you looking better and feeling better than when it started - a properly trained professional shouldn't make you feel "pressure" to commit to a schedule you can't handle, and should do what they can to make it a comfortable experience that leaves you feeling fabulous!
