It's not just the chinese! Many people from asia are shorter on average, than northern americans (i'm including asian people born in north america too). I don't know why though!

i'm pretty sure it has to do with eating habits and mating selection of our ancestors. Short women must have been the ideal, so men married short women and had short children etc etc.

Mongolian races are shorter as compared to Arza and Dravid races. Mongolian, Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai, Singaporean etc all are maximum from Mongolian races.

Now a day proper diet, physical training and mainly by the help of genetic engineering Chinese people are increasing their average height.

Chinese people are not short. It just happened that other races had over-grown in their height.

They are not... A survey would prove there are more tall people in China than in america just by sheer numbers...
