Yes; They will appear out of no where trotting and stalking you maybe, maybe sometimes just giving you a "You want some of this?" glare. If you run into a meaner gang of rac's they may stop to click there teeth at you and rub their hands together as if they would love you to try something. These dudes stole my buddies pants from his tent on Angel Island by opening his dome tend using the zipper. Another group of these punks wouldn't let my girlfriend into her house in Oakland, baracading the door an using their intimidating tactics. You should still come to SF my friend, but bring a fist weapon or a switch blade cause you may need it.

OMG, I think Spook should get "best answer" - that was hilarious!
For the record, I live in the SF Bay Area, and there are indeed raccoons in urban areas. They like cat food left in outdoor dishes & will rummage through garbage cans.
Why use Wikipedia of India as a reference source for a question re: San Francisco?

I heard rumours about this but think that this is an urban legend.
Was he imbibing any alcohol when he sees such animals?
Raccoons are animals who prefer the great outdoors and generally avoid big cities. Also, they don't like clam chowder so why would they pick San Francisco?
In the future, maybe you can kill a few and make some great hats like "Davey" Crockett. But if you do, we will report you to the RSPCA (Royal Society for Protection of Cruelty to Animals).

Well, I live close to San Francisco, and I do see raccoons frequently, especially by the ocean or bay. The ones I have ran into were not aggressive. They usually mind their own business or keep their distance from you.

There are large populations of raccoon in the Bay Area, but most of them are in the suburbs or large regional parks. Only very rarely would you see them in the city center.
In San Francisco itself, aside from the usual critters and domesticated animals (dogs, cats, horses, rats, squirrels, sea gulls)... there are hundreds of beautiful South American wild parrots living on Telegraph Hill.
And a herd of buffalo transplanted from the Midwest many years ago continue to roam Golden Gate Park.

Don't worry, there are racoons inhabiting San Francisco but it is very rare to see them and they are usually not aggressive, I have lived in San Francisco for 5 years and I have only seen a racoon once, and my sister and I even fed it.

Yes, however, they are gay raccoons and as such generally mince around in groups of 6 - 7 dressed as American Indians, Cowboys, Motorcycle Police......

Yep! They are all over the place. Last week a female mountain lion with cubs showed up in Ghirardelli square during lunch hour. Plenty of wild animals in the area.

I've never seen a single one in SF. I saw a couple in Oakland after the '90 fire, but that was it.
