These are no cabbage whites! - I would reckon these are x2 in each direction, and seem to fall from a tree outside in the street. That horn isn't like a 'feeler' - it's too far back on the body. I'm not normally squeamish but I don't like the look of these items!

I couldn't identify without a photo, but maybe you can. Check out the following website from "Pest Control Canada," which offers the ability to upload photos of pests you'd like identified. Don't worry....it's not limited to Canadian insects.....people have submitted photos from around the globe. You can either search through the (nearly 1000) user-supplied photos, or submit your own. It's free, of course, and posts are usually answered within a few days....most often from a friendly, retired entomologist.

could it be a hawkmoth caterpillar? They have a spiky bit a the back. Look or pics on the net of that.

They are indeed, " Horned Worms" ... the catapillars of the Sphinx Moth .. they tend to eat members of the nightshade family , including
tomato , eggplant, and potato plants .. they are harmless, but they are creepy ... Harmless , unless they are eating your garden, that is ...
