People that pick on the disabled and the handicapped feel they are superior to them. They fail to see their own flaws and assume they have a lot more to offer. They don't want to accept the fact that with all of the new technology and government regulations regarding accessability and educational rights for the handicapped that these people have the same opportunities that they have. I truly believe that some people are actually jealous about the fact that the handicapped at times get a little extra attention and help than an able bodied person does. They see it as favortism. A lot of people fear what they don't understand as well. There are people that also see them as just a burden. The handicapped often cannot defend themselves which makes them an easy target for bullies that need to feel some sense of power. It makes them feel powerful to be able to overcome someone and they have a need to feel control. They often have no control or direction in there own lives either. They know what the consequences would be if they tried to gain that by attacking someone who could fight back so they look for the easiest target. I think the bottom line is that these people have no self esteem or respect for themselves so it's hard to have that for others, and these are often the same people that are prejudiced against those of a different nationality or colour. It's plain ignorance for which there is no excuse.

Because we're easy targets.

When I go past the local school on my mobility scooter the kids shout things like "you're speeding" or "you can't park here" or they run after me, I've even had things thrown at me!
What can I do?
Nothing; if I complained to the school it would just draw me the attention of the little darlings that don't do anything.

I don't know, but it's one thing that enrages me. Like when old people are abused in care homes, or children. I cannot understand it, and it makes me sick.
