I think Greg Chappell of Australia would be best as coach of Indian Cricket team.

If we compare the candidatures of Greg Chappell and John Wright of New Zealand, Greg Chappell wins hands down.

First of all, since Chappell comes from Australia he is born with a competitive and sporty nature. Australia is truly a sporting nation and has done reasonably well in all sports recently. Australians are naturally blessed with good physique and have killer instinct in them which allows them to dominate world sport. Greg Chappell is truly a good example of this.

On the other hand, John Wright comes from New Zealand, a quite and content nation who has always competed well in sports, but has never won anything meaningful. John Wright is a shining example of his nation’s psyche towards sports.

John Wright, former opening batsman from New Zealand was a hard working, fighting player but never someone who could be considered great. A quite sort of man, he never made it as a leader of the New Zealand team. On the contrary, Greg Chappell was one of the best batsman of his time and also led Australia to numerous memorable wins against quality opposition.

John Wright was reserved by nature and never quite got his team to combine as well as they could. During his time as coach, it was the captain, Sourav Ganguly who was running the show, and Wright was somehow pushed into background. This led to modest results in One Dayers and at the time of his exit the team had slipped to 7th in ICC One Day Rankings having lost a record number of one day touranament finals. His biggest achievement would be the test series win against Australia in India and against Pakistan in Pakistan, as well as the Runners-up finish at World Cup 2003.

Before his appointment as coach of Indian Cricket team, Chappell had made his presentation in front of BCCI officials titled ‘Commitment to Excellence’ , in which he had clearly stated that he wanted to make the present Indian team - the best in business, and he would leave no stone unturned to ensure the same. He wanted to get rid of any sort of politicking within the team, and ensure that every member of the team gave more than hundred percent effort.

He made it clear that he did not want a struggling Sourav Ganguly to continue as captain of the team, and wanted him to justify his place in the team - first as batsman and then as captain. He also dropped Zaheer Khan, inspite of bowling well at first class level because of suspect fitness. He also placed immense faith in youth and wanted all players to be absolutely fit. This has allowed youngsters in the team like Suresh Raina, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Sresanth, Irfan Pathan, etc. to come to the fore and display their immense talent. No doubt the team has risen to 2nd in ICC LOI Rankings, and also won the test series vs. West Indies abroad.

Therefore, it can be safely assumed that Greg Chappell would make a better coach of Indian Cricket team and let us hope that he would, along with Rahul Dravid lead Indian to a successful World Cup 2007.

Greg Chappel for sure.

He is very much interesting to keep in track.

His ideas are different and like to fill the Indian team with youngsters seeing that the seniors are also included such the experience of the seniors will be useful for the new commers. He wants to see India like the present Australia.

I like his views and that's why I prefer Greg than John Right.

Hope you have understood my explanation.
