No problems.
Unless water has contributed to the rise in the level.
If the oil has a milky look to it, take it to a mechanic.

Oil level shall not abnormally increase since it is a closed circuit lubricating system. Abnormal level indicates (When we have filled up normal level and after some time) it can be due to entry of other liquids mainly water. We should see whether water level has come down.
Slight increase while filling up oil is OK. If we fill up more, the same will be thrown on the cylinder walls and these will burn in the engine and if we continuously do that, ring sticking will take place. Oil will throw through the exhaust.

Too much oil can blow the seals especially on a cold engine.
An increased oil level of 1/4 inch would be OK but that is not 1 cm, 1 Centimeter and I would have the oil drained off and oil to the correct level refilled.
Obvious question but it has to be asked, was the car perfectly level?

you can put in up to 3/4 quart in most cars without a problem
you also asked what the problem would be
if the oil is to high the crank will hit it and may cause it to foam like when you whip cream the foamy oil goes through the oil pump ind to the crankshaft there is lots of pressure on the crank and it will push the air out and now you have low oil pressure on the bearings and it may harm them it wont blow seals or cause leaks and this damage is rare
1/4 above is fine it will help to keep engine cool

It shouldn't cause any problems. The engine may just feel abit laggy as engine oil working like a splashing effect ( crankshaft splashes up engine oil )to lubricate the parts in the engine. Just imagine filling it too high and its like not much splashing effect but more like soaking the engine parts in oil. Hope this answers your question.

No problem...as long as it doesn't get over a quart or two....then you'll start blowing seals. Your car will be just fine. Good luck.
