is there another ER close by? if so, call them and ask how crowded they are- see if they would be able to see him immediately.
good luck- and watch out for your brother- alcohol poisoning can be VERY serious.

I am sure the doctors will take care of your brother without a problem.
Alcohol posioning is a pain to get over. They will probably give him an IV to replace the fluids he has lost. When he gets home he is going to need plenty of sleep, something for his head ache, some pepto, and plenty of liquid. Water is the best and when he can try some tomato juice whether he likes it or not. It will help replace the vitamins in his body the fastest. The quicker he gets rehydrated and replaces the vitamins he lost the better he will feel. ****side not he may not be able to drink whatever he was drinking for a LLOOOOONNNNNNG TIME***

i work in trauma icu at a local hospital....
first of all-all emergency rooms have guidelines they have to follow that determines how quickly a person is seen by a doctor.
since you're brother has been sitting in the waiting room for more than an hour-it means that although his condition does need medical attention-it is not life threatening at this point.
just try to be patient-and advise your parents to wait it out-he's much safer in the waiting room surrounded by nurses and other medical staff than he would be at home-i know long waits are no fun when you're worried about your loved one but he does need to be seen.
once in the back of the emergency room-they will draw blood to determine exactly how much alcohol is in his system. depending on what those results show-the doctor will treat him how he sees fit to. he might make him drink charcoal which will absorb the alcohol in his system and helps to counter-act it's affect. they will also more than likely start an i.v on him to give him fluids b/c alcohol causes severe dehydration and if he's vomiting-which is common when you drink too much-he's already lost alot of fluid.
if the case is really severe-they will pump his stomach to remove the remaining alcohol and might admit him into the hospital to watch him, treat him for the dehydration and give him medication to help stop the affects of the alcohol.
hopefully you're brother will remember this event and try not to drink as much next time-alcohol is just like a drug-too much of it can have serious medical side effects and can be fatal
good luck and take care

Well all you can do it wait and pray. Your brother has made a huge mistake.
You could also reflect on what he did, and possibly think of what's going to happen when when he comes out (he will, im sure he will fine). Think about how you can help him with his problems. Find the nearest Rehab center and you should get him in as soon as possible, because you don't get Alcohol posioning from a couple of beers does it?

If he is in ER, he's in the best hands available for the moment.
The best thing that could be done now is to get counseling for him and family (and anyone else that lives with him). This is a form of self-destructive behavior with an addictive substance. We all need help from time to time to help sort things out.
Ask the medical staff about EFFECTIVE programs and support groups for everyone and help your brother find BETTER things to do and have more self-worth. If he doesn't get support, he will only fall back on old habits, and next time it could kill HIM (and he might kill others in the process.)
You can also check for ALCOHOLIC TREATMENT CENTERS near you. With a little help, and a little education, everyone should win.

He'll be in rough shape for a couple of days, and hopefully he doesn't continue to do this. He sounds like he's on a destructive path and maybe running away from something bothering him. Hopefully he can talk to you or someone if that is the case... Otherwise have him evacuate his stomach, the hospital will make sure it is completely accomplished. Keep him awake is the best thing to do...

pray and let the Dr. take care of him. and let that be a lesson to you not Drink.
I do not need to come off sounding rude but what the f. u. c. k.
are you doing on here if you are in the ER with your brother.
We are not doctors here. Well I would think a Dr would not have time to be on here. You need to ask the dr what you need to do.
you need to get off line and go be with your family. I find it sad how you found it more important to be on the Internet then with your family... I will pray for you and your family and your brother.

Ive been hospitalized for that before. The doctor will flush your body system Which means they will kindda clean up and pump out all the alcohol. After that you will be on drip and dats it. Here I am.

Just carry on waiting sweetie and stay strong and chilled. He is in the best hands and I am sure it will be a good lesson for him to learn to drink in moderation.
All you can do is be here for him and maybe make light of the situation because I am sure he feels rotten.

Beer does not ought to be chilled. in case you look at a bottle this is going to say serve chilled- this is in basic terms a suggestion as this is going to flavor extra effectual. think of approximately the place pubs etc shop their alcohol? except they seem to be a super company with sufficient funds to affore a super kick back room then it keeps to be in a cellar. Reccommended cellar temperature is 12 levels celcius.
