Try playing it in mplayer. It somehow picks up subtitles that other video players don't pick up. I use it to watch some japanese titles because all the other video players don't see the subtitles. Give it a try it is a small program and is the best video player because it often plays corrupt files and damaged files.

You will have to download the script and translate it yourself, unless they do an audio book verson in which case you could play that as the sound and have the volume on the French turned of.

I doubt you can, usely movies come with subtitles or they don't. I mean maybe you could look up a translation script. But yeah thats all I can say.
