Why not? Anything that suits both partners and keeps the family fed and happy should happen. I mean, the best cooks are men - why shouldn't they stay at home and tend the house, if they feel inclined to, and the woman, who may happen to be more assertive and economically smart, can earn the money. Nothing wrong with that!

Now, if the situation causes quarrels and bad feelings in the family, then that should be avoided....

Nowadays in the USA there are several breadwinners in a family. It is usually the father that is the major breadwinner but I know of several families where the mothero brings in more than the father. She has a more important job due to her excellent education and ability. They get along just fine because there is a genuine understanding between them that the earnings all goes into the family account at the end of the month. If the husband is infirmed then it is almost necessary for the lady in the house to work and be the breadwinner. Marriage is a two-way street and both parties have to be able to walk both ways....up and down. The man may not be overwhelmed that the lady of the house is earning more money than he, but if is a practical fellow he will understand the situation and allow the reality of the situation speak for itself.

Not at all. Unless her husband is having serious health problems. If he is healthy, he should go to work and support his family. If he is lazy, he shouldn't have got married at all. Wife can work, too, but not to be the only one working in her house. Otherwise, get a divorce as you'd live better and more comfortable. You don't need to be financial provider of someone who sleeps all day long.

Why does it matter who brings home more money. As long as the bills are being paid and the family is being taken care of. Stop thinking like it is the 1600's cause guess what women are educated and can do anything a man can.

why not. this is the 21st century. more and more careers are based on knowledge and less on physical capabilities. additionally, i believe it would help males understand women better if they actually had to perform some of the daily duties of the 1950's women in America: care for kids, laundry, prepare meals, clean house. why not? if i can make more and one of us needs to stay with the baby why shouldn't i go to work. i make 4100 a month before taxes and my husband (before our 18month old was born) made about 1800 a month: who would you send to work. further more it seems like kids today that grow up with out the love and discipline of dad turn out screwed up. so why not?

Both partners need to contribute or the other person is alone in the marraige. If he is disabled that is different, but a healthy man has no business sitting on the couch watching his wife work

yes. I'm a writer. Not the most money-making profession but my husband supports me fully - financially and emotionally. I like to think that if it were the other way around I would be just as supportive in his dream as he is in mine.
