It's a flawed question. The fact is Bush and most elected officials have to pander to the people that turn out to vote. Far too few Americans vote. So the vocal minority (the squeaky wheel) get their way too often. The biggest influence in politics is the money for the campaigns. We should take away all private funding and make all campaigns have public funding and spending limits.
Campaigns would be allowed to print a one page fact sheet to distribute at polling places. These sheets would be turned in x number of days prior te each election. If a lie is found on the sheet, that candidate or issue is removed from the ballot.
