I've been bartending for 6 years..I like it. My brain on the other hand is BORED. I make great $, but my poor liver pays a price. The only thing is I don't have a PASSION...I'm very random, jumping from hobby to hobby.Does anybody else feel like the word "career" is not in thier vocabulary?

Its ok, untill you are happy nothing maters, go with the flow, enjoy yourself while being a contributing member to the society. I am very much like you but I dont care about stuff like career as long as I am happy with myself. Its basically the societal pressure that makes you worry about things like career.

I understand you COMPLETELY!!! It took me several years to settle down with a steady job out of high school. I'm 24 now, and still have not held a job for more than 9 months. Unfortunately, getting married didn't really settle me down any, it just made me wish i was single and could go do whatever I want when I want. The thing that helped me the most was just getting out there and experiencing a whole bunch of different stuff. I was a volunteer firefighter, and that got me acclimated to several lines of work, including EMS. I worked as a car salesman, cook, table waiter, home repairman, and even freelance labor. I learned something from all of those, mainly that I like to move around a lot. If you're having issues bar-tending, try a different bar, line of work, or a different town, who knows you may find something you never knew was out there. By the way, I am now in nursing school, and plan to be a traveling nurse once I am finished. There's something for everybody.

In am a part owner in a restuarant and I see this everyday. Only you can change your attitude. What change mine is that when you work for tip and a hourly wage, you can only go so high before you top out. If you want to stay in the restuarant business, which means you will never be without a job, you should think about going into management. I know plenty of people that make 60k-115k without a college degree. There are plenty of advancement opportunities in the business. Happy Hunting.

Spend some time looking for that passion by trying new things. It took me some time to find my career, but ironically it's entrepreneurship... and every time I get a business off and running, I start yearning to start a new one. I think mine is just a more expensive version of your hobby-to-hobby jump. Luckily, I have so far picked businesses that don't require a lot of capital investment. I'm hoping my latest one sticks (http://www.bigmomentfilms.com, in case you're interested.)

There's something to be said for holding out for something you're passionate about. It's fortunate you can pay the rent while you look...

Good luck in your search!

I'd love to help you friend, but you are the only one that can come up with something to be passionate about. You didn't mention your education level. Have you thought about going back to school? In taking the general classes needed for a degree you may discover something to be passionate about and pursue it. Just a thought.

I feel your pain. But in your case change may be your only option. Maybe you should look into another field. What are your other skills and hobbies? Can you make a career out of it?

No one can motivate you except you. So nothing is going to change until you want it to.

Take your life as it is now. Project it forward 5, 15, 25, 50 years. What will it look like? What will you be saying? Where will you be? What condition will you be in?

Are you happy with what you see?

If not seek alternatives, & keep seeking, keep growing by talking to people, pursuing a hobby, attending classes. Your journey will keep you growing as an individual & will lead you to another place.

The key is activity activity activity, DO IT. NOW!! (Wow wish I could!!!!)
