Is one type of fish oil better than another? I know they should have omega 3 fatty acids. Thanks.

Do not take cod liver oil as a source of omega-3's, since you can get an overdose of Vitamin A & D from those.

I would recommend checking labels to see if the fish oil is free of mercury, PCB's and dioxins. These are contaminants that are bad for your health. Look on labels for the fish oil that has the most DHA+EPA per capsule. The EPA & DHA are the omega-3 fatty acids.

Sometimes, the supplement facts are misleading, since the serving size may be 2 or more capsules. This means that you'd have to take multiple capsules to get the amount of EPA+DHA listed on the label.

Also, it's a good thing if it has Vitamin E included in the capsule. This will help prevent oxidation of the fish oil.

You should not take any fish oil or any supplements unless you discuss it with your doctor.
I take an omega-3 acid called OMACOR, no fool'in... I know I'm Oma and I take Omacor its easy to remember ha ha!
But no joking around ask before you take this stuff it can kill your liver .. poison your kidneys and just plain kill you. At the very least it can make you sicker that a drunk dog!
I take it because I'm on dialysis and because the doctor prescribed it to me.
Eat your fish don't drink it.
