can't even think straight?

If you ever said " Rap is not music"...Then you just have to admit that you are a bonafide hater.

Y'all just can't appreciate it since it's predominately a Black thing.

Let the truth be told.

Peace to everybody.

skillet, baby allow me to inform you that,

Rap is all about messages. It came from real people and real struggle. You just don't know nothing about it.

Apparently, y'all think 50 cent IS Rap music. Therefore I don't have to say no more.

Don't hate something that you don't understand.

I only dislike rap because it lacks intelligence. Rap lyrics don't carry a message except some very basic shallow messages about sex, drugs, and hate. There's no real message to it that I can connect with. I feel a lot more satisfied after listening to good ol classic rock.
I like rap for its beat sometimes, but I can't stick with it for very long: without good lyrics, a song isn't good...even if it does have a good beat.
Hey I give it a try from time to time, but somehow I always end up back listening to The Beatles, Pink Floyd, and Zeppelin. You should give them a go sometime and see if its something you could get into!

White, black or brown the skin doesn't matter!

The same people who say that rap isn't music might also say that opera isn't music! Hell you might not think that opera is music but it has to do with taste & ability to keep an open mind!

Granted, I will not even try to discuss the subilties of Eminem's Kim lyrics with Grandma but I am not going to standby while she tries to play some bluegrass twanging crap for me either!

Ignorance of the style also kills the ability of smallminded individuals to actually listen to what is being said! The fact that not every syllabol is in a sing/song tonality doesn't mean that it is not singing! That argument will show you the people without any real formal music training! IN other words, the ones the you just pass right by without listening to!

It is all about your preferances and openness to new media forms!

So you're saying, basically, that we're racist against the "black thing"? Hah! There are plenty of white people that rap -- it's the new thing apparently since Eminem. We just like to express our dislike for idiotic, talentless, babbling into a microphone with computer generated instrumentals to back it up. Any one can rap but not everyone can sing. Get over it.

Yes, I can read you belligerant fool.

It might be considered music on some level, it's just that there's almost no talent behind it. Just like Jesus music or Country.

And it seems a felony or two boosts someones career in rap, and that is not a good message to send to young people.

You are absolutely correct -- I HATE RAP!! No matter how much you try to tell me it is music, it is not any more than disco was in the '70s. Every 'song' -- and I do mean every -- sounds EXACTLY the same. Same drum(?) beat; same sorry attempts at rhyme and rhythm, same bass line. It bores me to tears!! While I believe Amadeus Motzart was a pretty liberal thinker when it came to music, this scheit has got to have him turning over in his grave!

And so you'll know, I am a musician. Guitar and bass for over thirty years. I know music when I hear it and this ain't it.

Sorry, but that "black thing" theory don't fly!!!!
Motown & Philly Soul were ALSO "black things", but the difference here is that THOSE artists had something called TALENT; not only did they actually SING, but they sang with real SOUL. Every song was unique, with harmonies & melodies & all the elements that combine to create something beautiful to listen to.

Rap is NOT "music" - and I don't care WHAT anyone says to the contrary. It's useless, offensive, negative trash. I don't care to hear some ghetto-dweller ranting on & on about "hos" and drug deals and shooting people and all the dirty money he ripped off. It's just plain disgusting, and I wish to hell they'd just outlaw all of it & get back to REAL music!

Lookin at those different solutions kinda makes me unhappy..... i think that the those who say that rap is "crap" have purely been inspired by the singles and new artists which have come out contained in the previous few years that dont truly have as a lot adventure...... Take artists like Jay-Z and Nas as an party.... they have been round for years and followers: previous and youthful, black, white and in between, appreciate them and what they might want to assert. What maximum folk dont understand is that if a rapper is in fact "crap", their followers will enable them understand. purely because the stuff it is been popping out at the moment sucks doesnt propose that rap is the worst song contained in the international.
