a tidal wave like effect, but of mass. of the fabric of space. like a 2nd universe getting big banged over this one...or somethin. sorry my brain works on levels hard to put into words.

Yeah, throw a stone into a pond. Move your hand through the air. Move at all, and you make a wave.

As for the other way of looking at it, as in a wave in the fabric of space-time, indeed this could happen. Actually, it could be happening rapidly right now, but seeing as we are part of the fabric, we wouldnt notice the difference.

Interesting concept though.

If a meteor were to hit the earth or other planet it produces a ripple effect like a rock hitting the water only it's with earth so that might be close to what you are asking for
