Had a look at www.filext.com and your file is either Home Embroidery Format, in which case you need "Designer's Gallery Studio" apparently, or it could be a Micrografx Designer Template - use Micrografx presumably.It could be for Orchida Embroidery System or a Tajima Embroidery Machine Stitch File.

The point I'm trying to make is that you need to give more information in your questions when talking about specialist fields of interest.

It seems that there's not a defacto program that produces .dst files. If you're interested in machine embroidery designs, there are quite a few specialized design programs that willl produce .dst files.The source link below has a menu that links to several of these programs.

Seems like this is maybe associated with an embroidery type of software. I think this source might help you... Let me know if it doesn't help I might be able to find something else! :)
