A person takes you and friend hostage.
He tells you, "If you say you believe in God, I will kill your friend...
You can say that you do not believe, and your friend will be spared".
Assuming that you are a person of faith, which do you choose?

If it were MY life at stake, I'd pronounce my faith...but since it's someone else's life we're talking about, I would spare the other's life-friend or for--I personally don't think my God would want me to be part of someone else taking my friend's life simply because I declared my faith verbally --I don't need to say it out loud for my God to know what's in my heart.

As a person of faith, I believe God knows your mind and intentions... and would rather you help spare the person's life then to allow a murder. He is a God of love.

I would never deny Christ, not even to save another. I would have to trust God with the outcome and hope my faith encouraged/converted the friend.

Matthew 10:33
Jesus said, "But if anyone denies me here on earth, I will deny that person before my Father in heaven."

and in Luke 14:26 he reminds us,
"If you want to be my follower you must love me more than[a] your own father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters--yes, more than your own life. Otherwise, you cannot be my disciple.

Finally, proverbs 21:28
" 28 A false witness will perish,
and whoever listens to him will be destroyed forever."

God will know that we are just trying to save our frd, so god won't hold it against us if we lied.

In that case, I would still do the smart thing.
