well, my husband is a better dad than his father will ever be. I think that whoever treats the child the best is the best parent, even if they are not the biological ones. If they know the child well enough and has spent time with them, then I think that they should have a say. This is not in every case. but sometimes parents need more help than they think. good luck with whatever is happening. Whatever is best for the child is best. Blessed Be.

Absolutely not. Fact is they are not the biological parents. when the biological parent is not around(baby sitting so to speak) then they are responsible for their well being, not letting things get out of control, simple discipline(like go to your room until they come home)

well that all depends. How long have they been in your life. Does your biological parent agree with him or her. What is the right that you are fighting against. Punishment???

Good question! I wish that they could because my hubby is helping me raise my two children. Heaven forbid that he even speaks ill to them because my ex raises the roof and threatens social services on me. (not that he does speak ill to them) My hubby has practically raised my kids but my ex tries to make it seem like he is the hero. Unfortunatley in today's society if a step parent whips a step child he can be in big trouble! I wish it were not so.

NO i dont think so But then again it does depend on your own situation and choice.. or if you led some one onto beleive this to be true.
No a step father shouldnt ever hit , and should always have the mothers support or what ever the situation.

I suppose so, even though they arent the bilogical parent. If they live in the household with a child, then technically they are the adults, i suppose.
