What did you do to make a group of people so mad at you that they are writing a letter and collecting signatures?? There's nothing I can give you advice on here. Add some details plz!!

People don't usually start campaigns unless someone really annoys them. So I would be finding out why they have the campaign going.

I say "where can I sign"? I mean.....c'mon! They all want to lodge a common complaint. Doubts exist they have any hard evidence to merit their complaints.
Petitions is a slick late 60s form of political pressure, tipping elected officials they better listen to them---or face getting voted out.
Today, petitions carry little if any merit. Let them vent; they'll simmer down.

If what their letter convey is true, then stand up for what you believe in; If it is false, then call them on it in the court of public opinion.

Well, have some self examination about what their position is and be sure there is no grain of truth to it. After that, explain to us what they are planning to do? Is this political? Are you running for something.?
