Right now I firmly believe that you should go with Time Warner or whoever is in your area, but not Satellite. It's my fervent desire to getcompetition amongst the cable companies, because according to the ruling in 1996, they have to! They get around that by having DirectTv for TV and your local phone people for phones. But that's not competition. you can only bundle so many services,. I want to see Cox And Time Warner duke it out on my lawn, so I can see who's cheaper, better, advanced technically. I live in SanDiego (so pretty temperate weather) and we had DirecTV with a Hughes dish (so that you don't think I cheaped out and it was SO hit and miss. When it was good it was very very good, but when it was bad it was awful! And the support isn't there I found, everytime I called in a trouble they would say well Inclement weather "OK I live in San Diego, there hasn't been a cloud, or rain or even a slight fluctuation in 3 months; Now today it's not working due to inclement weather?" "Yes, that's it" And then I'd ask for a supervisor and start all over again, and apparently their knowledge of meteorology was as good as the first persons. I had a Manager od Customer Service tell me it was "inclement weather" And after I climbed down from the roof that I was going to propel off of, I said again "san diego, no weather, no clouds, only sun..what? what??" And that brainiac informs me that if there is a storm in Florida, the satellite systems relies on all of their towers from here to Florida, so anytime you have a problem anywhere along the way You'll be down. And you know what? At that point, I threw my degree in Electrical Engineering, minoring in Telecommunications out the window, since apparently I would NEVER have TV service according to those words of advice. So I left the DirectTV option...

I would say time warner, I've had both, and directv goes out during bad weather because it's satellite, and the Time Warner menus are easier to navigate

Check out Dish Network. I've had them for years and I like it much better than cable.
